Jim Newbury, Owner Founded in 1986, Bestech is a privately held firm specializing in demolition, environmental services, and sustainable development. It offers a unique combination of skilled, licensed tradesmen and certified environmental personnel which can evaluate a wide variety of environmental and demolition projects in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The firm has long list of clients that include attorneys, general contractors, governmental agencies, homeowners, hospitals, industrial and commercial facilities, insurance companies, lending institutions, municipal buildings, property managers, real estate developers, and schools.
“Our company works on projects ranging from residential to multi-million dollar. We have many returning customers and have references available upon request. We also offers 24 hour services, as well as weekends to get the job done,” says Eric Strickland, Operations/Project Manager, Bestech.
Bestech distinguishes itself from its competition by utilizing a variety of unique and advanced large excavators for all types of building demolition. It has the highest score of any abatement publishing contractor in Connecticut and is constantly trying to keep on top of emerging trends. For instance, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been imposing stronger emissions requirements for diesel engines, such as those used in construction, which has caused clients to shun diesel equipment. Bestect employs a range of electric equipment, such as battery-operated excavators and material movers, as part of their commitment to make construction more sustainable and to meet clients’ demands. Furthermore, the company also boasts of an unwavering commitment to ensure employee safety.
We aim to build on trust and performance more than anything else
“Everyone’s safety is certainly a top issue, but being safe is costly, and we don’t seem to mind. We take all necessary precautions to ensure that nothing goes wrong. That’s why we have a fantastic track record when it comes to avoiding serious incidents,” says Strickland.Understanding clients’ needs and opting out of the cookie-cutter approach, the company offers customized solutions accordingly. For a smaller job (residential), the Bestech team first visits the job site to understand the project, explain how they would do their work, and make sure that everyone’s on the same page. “We provide a large number of quotations and estimates for consumers so that they may make an informed selection,” states Strickland. And working with large companies the teams tries to create project specifications and drawings by understanding what clients want prior to entering into the project. The teams extensive work experience in the industry instills such trust in clients that they allow the team to make a decision and proceed with the project without their consent.

Bestech unique combination of skilled, licensed tradesmen, certified environmental personnel, and state-of-the-art equipment can complete any job. They work diligently each day to exceed clients’ expectations. In this context, Strickland shares one of Bestech’s clients, a university in New Haven, wanted to demolish one of the university buildings, so they went out to bid and picked a low-bidding company to do the job.
The problem was that when they began demolishing the structure, it began to tilt towards an occupied building with students inside. As a result, the entire project was placed on hold, and the university had to re-bid to stabilize the structure.
After being chosen in the second bidding round, Bestech’s team helped solve the problem and fix it by pushing the building in the opposite direction of where it was leaning and dropping it into the ground, ensuring that everything was secure.

With over two decades of experience, Bestech has built a reputation for being one of the most trusted and admired companies in the industry. The success stems from the strong foundations reflecting in quality construction, timely deliveries, and customer satisfaction. Moving forward, the company intends to develop and undertake more work in the state of Massachusetts in the future. They are focusing on enhancing their equipment in order to maintain their market leadership. Electric equipment, for example, is something they aim to make available to their clients as in schoolwork, they presently do not allow any gasoline or diesel engines in the facility, and everything must be electric. “As the company expands into new markets, we aim to build on trust and performance more than anything else. We will focus on analyzing mutual progress at every step, ensuring the success of every project we undertake,” concludes Strickland.
