Comfort Systems USA
Complex Modular Buildings Delivered

Modular construction may not be a new concept, but Comfort System USA (CSUSA) is taking it to the next level with their state-of-the-art modular and offsite construction solutions for mechanical and electrical systems. By harnessing the power of cutting-edge technology, CSUSA is changing the game and paving the way for a more streamlined and effective approach to building installation.

Traditional modular construction concentrates on building the structures themselves; but CSUSA goes the extra mile by offering a structure that seamlessly incorporates the necessary equipment and assets to deliver fully functional MEP solutions for entire buildings or groups of buildings. Through its innovative offsite construction methods, CSUSA is able to provide clients with complex, high-quality structures that include utility plants, mechanical systems and electrical rooms that are uniform, scalable and capable of speeding up complex technological and industrial building projects.

CSUSA oversees all its MEP and HVAC modular constructions through Environmental Air Systems (EAS) and TAS Energy. Its designs are versatile, ranging from single-section to multi-story structures that are frequently built in 40 percent less time than traditional construction methods. The streamlined process vastly reduces the need for skilled field labor and the chance of on-site accidents.

“Limited on-site construction helps us in enhancing labor safety and managing logistics costs. We don’t even have to worry about the weather stopping us and slowing our timeline,” says Brian Evans, regional president of CSUSA.

Utilizing advanced capabilities, such as plasma and laser cutting equipment, expertise in prefabrication for piping and sheet metal coil lines, and robotic welders help CSUSA stand out in the modular construction market. By incorporating unique engineering and designs, as well as innovative techniques and cutting-edge equipment, it can simplify the modular construction process while customizing each project to meet the specific needs of its clients. This customized manufacturing approach not only increases speed-to-market, but also reduces project schedules, construction risks, and overall costs, promoting sustainability.

According to Bill George, CFO of CSUSA, “We understand that every opportunity, every customer, and every facility is unique and has its own specific needs. At CSUSA, we take pride in our ability to build anything and everything a client requires, from chiller plants and penthouses, to custom air handling equipment and electrical facilities.”

CSUSA’s cohesive team of project managers is responsible for overseeing projects of varying sizes and complexities. By eliminating the siloes that often hinder the construction process, the team ensures that all departments—from design and engineering to manufacturing and installation—work in unison to efficiently deliver the desired solutions.

This streamlined approach allows for better communication and collaboration, and ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

CSUSA’s safety initiative, “Courage to Care,” is equally commendable, which prioritizes the safety of every employee. This initiative goes beyond Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance and fosters a culture of safety consciousness, zero harm, and incident reduction.

A notable project by CSUSA’s operating firm, EAS, was modular MEP solutions for the penthouse of an 18,000-seat, multipurpose network arena. The penthouse construction took place simultaneously with the arena’s. EAS handled the layout, coordination, and manufacturing of the entire penthouse at its plants in High Point, North Carolina. CSUSA implemented efficient chillers, air cooling towers, heat exchangers, chiller plant auxiliary equipment, piping, and plumbing solutions in the penthouse.

Successful projects like this show how decades of industry experience make CSUSA a trusted partner in the modular construction of single-source solutions for modular MEP and HVAC systems. Its focus on in-house management minimizes the need for multi-trade coordination, enabling it to deliver unmatched speed, safety, and quality in its services.
