Embracing Technology: A Journey Of Innovation In The Student Housing Industry

As someone deeply passionate about the student housing industry, I have found great joy in the continuous pursuit of enhancing our residents’ experiences and optimizing operational efficiency. Since stepping foot into this dynamic field in 2010, I have witnessed a remarkable evolution, one that harnesses the power of technology to better serve our residents, prospects, and teams. I have had the privilege of being at the forefront of this revolution, piloting programs, assisting with migrations, and establishing best practices that redefine how we operate.


In the not-so-distant past, leasing was a laborious paper-based process, leaving a trail of inefficiency in its wake. However, as technology in property management software advanced, we embraced the emergence of online leasing, which rapidly became the predominant method of prospect contact. Witnessing this shift was a pivotal moment, as it illustrated the potential of technology to revolutionize our industry and enhance the overall resident experience.


In the trajectory of my career, the greatest impact of this passion has been piloting the groundbreaking property management software, Entrata. Leveraging this cutting-edge technology has been a game-changer for our operations at Core Spaces and many others in the student housing management space. It has empowered us to streamline processes, improve communication, and raise the bar for resident satisfaction.


Drawing from my early adoption of technology in my personal life, I have been deeply involved in piloting various software solutions, including Onesite, Onsite, RealPage, Yardi, and Entrata, at different sites. Each iteration has presented our teams with an array of opportunities to optimize our practices, creating a harmonious blend of efficiency and excellence.


One of the significant advantages of technology in property management lies in settings management. With Entrata, we can effortlessly tailor our operations to meet the diverse needs of each property. From rental rates and leasing preferences to amenities and service offerings, customizing settings allows us to deliver personalized experiences that resonate with our residents and prospects.


Additionally, technology has played a transformative role in empowering our teams through comprehensive training. Ensuring that each team member is well-versed in utilizing technology effectively has not only optimized their productivity but also empowered them to deliver the best possible service to our valued residents. 


In my role with Core Spaces, I strive to apply the experiences I have gained throughout my career to drive innovation and establish industry-leading best practices. The journey to innovation is one that never ends, and I am determined to seize every opportunity to refine our services and operations, benefiting our residents and teams.


As I reflect on the past and embrace the boundless potential of technology, I am reminded of how far we have come from paper-based leasing to a seamless online experience. The ever[1]changing landscape of student housing motivates me to remain at the forefront of technology, harnessing its power to help propel our industry into the future.


My passion for the student housing industry and an unwavering dedication to technology have become the driving forces behind my desire to collaboratively redefine our industry’s best practices. As we continue to navigate this transformative journey, I eagerly anticipate a future that blurs the lines between this passion and technology, creating a world where our residents and teams flourish in an environment of innovation and excellence!
