In Latin America and around the world, GlobalData released new construction project statistics.
FREMONT, CA: In the Construction Project Momentum Index published by GlobalData in January 2022, Latin America was given an overall score of 0.13. This index provides an assessment of the health of the construction project pipeline at all phases of development, beginning with the announcement stage and continuing through the completion stage.
Every building project in the database that GlobalData maintains receives a score ranging from -5 to 5, depending on how far along it is. This value is regularly adjusted as more time passes. After that, each project's importance is considered to arrive at an overall score for each country, area, and industry.
This score places Latin America in eleventh position out of eleven regions, dropping from its score of 0.33 in December 2021, when it was ranked tenth.
The region's energy & utilities sector has a score of just 0.11, which places it in 11th position out of 11 regions worldwide. This is one reason why Latin America has performed relatively poorly on the index.
In comparison, the residential sector in Latin America has achieved somewhat better, with a score of 0.27 out of a possible 100. (putting it in tenth place globally).
