Create a budget
Prioritize the work that needs to be done, talk to your contractor about the prices involved with each component of the project, and then build a budget that accounts for all those expenditures, including some wiggle room for unforeseen expenses. Changes and renovations can be expensive, and whether the sum exceeds your budgeted amount, review your prioritized list to determine whether a lower-priority item can be completed.
Create an organized schedule.
