In modular construction, the building is constructed off-site, in a controlled environment, by utilising the same materials and designs, under the appropriate regulatory requirements, but the building is constructed in half the time necessary from traditional constructions.
FREMONT, CA: Generally, construction of any kind is an expensive project, and they are often delayed due to various reasons such as inadequate planning, decreased personnel, bureaucratic requirements, weather, or any other unprecedented circumstances. Drawn-out construction projects can inaccurately influence the public’s perception of a project, as delays cause inconvenience to individuals who are residents or who work close to the building sites. Furthermore, the progress of a few construction projects has to be expedited, especially if it is working on a tight schedule. For such projects, a simple solution is a modular construction.
In modular construction, the building is constructed off-site, in a controlled environment, by utilising the same materials and designs, under the appropriate regulatory requirements, but the building is constructed in half the time necessary from traditional constructions. Other types of construction come under modular construction:
Volumetric Modular Construction: It is a process in which different sections of a room are built in a factory. It is then transported to a final site for assembly. This construction is made for permanent and relocatable modular projects.
Panelized Construction: It is a process where interior and/or exterior wall panels are constructed in a factory setting and then transported to a final site to assemble the building on-site. The other aspects of the building are built on-site.
The Benefits of Modular Construction over Traditional Methods
Modular construction saves time and provides faster ROIs. As this type of construction enables industrialised assembly, which occurs simultaneously with site preparation, the net time required to construct a building reduces significantly.
