Taking an extensive look at the salient features of safety regulations in the construction industry
FREEMONT, CA: Construction safety refers to the protection of construction site workers in order to avoid significant fines and minimise delays in progress. However, if a company does not cultivate a safety culture, its crew could be undermining set safety policies without the management being aware of it. Also, recently, the Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) improved how employees report construction injuries. Instead of pressing civil charges, workers who experience job-related injuries need only claim it under WICA and don’t require an attorney to do so.
The impacts of poor construction project safety are more than just accidents and physical injuries. They include loss of profits, implications on productivity, the financial impact of repairing damaged equipment that results in delays in wages, damage to company reputation and invasive investigations by authorities.
There are five ways to ensure that construction safety meets required standards.
1. Education - Businesses can provide safety training that includes teaching company crews how different conditions can change existing hazards or create new ones, such as unexpected heavy rains during the day or unscheduled deliveries that could cause disruption.
