The central air conditioning system's heart is the air handling unit (AHU). It collects outside air and room air, filters out dust and other particles, adjusts the temperature and humidity and then distributes comfortable and refreshing air-conditioned air into the rooms via ducts.
Fremont, CA: In a nutshell, an air handling unit is a massive indoor piece of commercial air conditioning equipment. This gigantic "indoor unit" is installed on a rooftop or along a building's exterior wall. It generates cool/warm air and distributes it to the rooms for cooling/heating. Unlike standard commercial air conditioners, air handling units are typically built to order specific buildings. Furthermore, air handling units can be customized by mounting a filter, humidifier, and other devices on the inside to control temperature, humidity, airflow, and air cleanliness.
The Role of the Air Handling Unit
Let's look at the various functions that air handling units perform in central air conditioning. As previously stated, an air handling unit is an extensive commercial air conditioning indoor unit. This massive "indoor unit" has been installed outside. Through ducts, it generates, distributes, and circulates chilled or heated air into rooms. Typically, air handling units are built to order. However, they are also adaptable to specific applications and building characteristics.
Air handling units are commonly found in extensive facilities frequented by many people, such as theatres and shopping malls.
