The HVACR industry is turning a new page—one where safety and performance don’t conflict, but thrive together. For years, technicians have had to rely on harsh chemicals that, while powerful, jeopardize their safety, degrade equipment and harm the environment. The industry has long faced a tough choice between using dangerous yet effective solutions and settling for safer options that fall short.

Refrigeration Technologies is flipping the script, putting safety at the forefront with its non-hazardous, non-corrosive, eco-friendly solutions that deliver results as powerful as their traditional counterparts without the trade-offs.

Founded by chemist and HVACR technician John Pastorello, the family-owned company develops and supplies chemical cleaning solutions that are easy to use and designed to meet the specific demands of the industry. Developed, ‘By technicians, for technicians,’ the products resonate with contractors and end users alike.

Refrigeration Technologies stands out because it connects deeply with its users. By understanding contractors’ daily challenges, it creates practical and reliable solutions. This focus on eliminating the risks of harmful chemicals and fumes ensure safety for technicians and the equipment they maintain.

“We’re not just offering products; we’re delivering solutions that fit seamlessly into our customers’ daily routines,” says Mike Pastorello, President. “When we understand their needs, we create products that are simple, effective and make a real impact.”

Refrigeration Technologies’ customer-first approach ensures its solutions directly address the challenges professionals face. With applications in leak detection, coil cleaning, brazing heat protection, and sealants, its products empower technicians to work with confidence across residential and commercial settings.

Keeping every aspect of product development in-house—from research and development to manufacturing and packaging—Refrigeration Technologies maintains complete control over quality and innovation. This vertical integration allows it to rapidly develop new solutions while ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance.

Every product is rigorously tested before hitting the market, ensuring technicians receive nothing short of excellence.

Championing Performance and Sustainability

Innovation is the heartbeat of Refrigeration Technologies. When the industry shifted toward using delicate, aluminum microchannel coils, many existing chemicals proved too corrosive for these sensitive components. Seeing this as an opportunity for innovation, Refrigeration Technologies developed a line of non-hazardous, non-toxic and non-corrosive cleaning solutions designed to protect these coils. It tested its products in ASTM aircraft laboratories to ensure they would not compromise the aluminum, earning approval from various original equipment manufacturers. This proactive approach strengthened Refrigeration Technologies’ reputation as a trusted provider of safe, high-performance products.

It continually refines the products to stay ahead of the HVACR industry’s changing safety and environmental standards. Its research and development team works tirelessly to explore new materials, formulations and techniques that push the boundaries of what’s possible. From pioneering leak detection methods to more efficient coil cleaners, the company is always ready to meet the next challenge.

“We care deeply about the people who rely on our products,” says Becca Stamey, director of marketing. “By staying connected with our customers, we gain insights that drive ongoing innovation.”

Every Refrigeration Technologies product is crafted with care to meet strict internal guidelines and the highest standards set by the National Sanitation Foundation and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Its products are kosher-certified and biodegradable, ensuring safety for people and planet alike.

One of the company’s proudest achievements is its recognition as a champion formulator in the EPA’s Safer Detergent Stewardship Initiative, an honor awarded to just 42 companies worldwide. This places Refrigeration Technologies alongside industry giants like Colgate-Palmolive, Georgia-Pacific and Procter & Gamble, further underscoring its commitment to product safety and environmental responsibility.

“We deliver the performance of traditional chemicals while ensuring safety for everyone involved—technicians, homeowners and the environment,” says Pastorello. This commitment to balance guides every decision and every product at Refrigeration Technologies.

Excellence Powered by Family Values

At its heart, Refrigeration Technologies is more than a business—it’s a family built on values that resonate throughout the HVACR community. The leadership team remains deeply involved in day-to-day operations, ensuring that the principles of safety, innovation and customer care are integrated into every aspect of the company.

“We’ve always kept that family feel,” says Pastorello. This connection extends beyond its walls, shaping strong, long-lasting relationships with customers, vendors and partners.

We’re not just offering products; we’re delivering solutions that fit seamlessly into our customers’ daily routines. When we understand their needs, we create products that are simple, effective and make a real impact

The company’s remarkable growth is a testament to these values. Refrigeration Technologies earned a spot on the Inc. 5000, a list of America’s fastest-growing companies, for three consecutive years—2022, 2023 and 2024. It has also expanded its production and distribution facilities in Anaheim by an additional 30,000 square feet to meet the rising demand for its high-quality products. Yet, despite this growth, Refrigeration Technologies remains committed to its core mission of safety and excellence.

Its impact on the HVACR community goes far beyond its products. It actively supports organizations like HARDI, Women in HVACR, HVAC School and many other industry organizations, partnering with these groups to support contractors and wholesale partners who rely on their solutions. Working closely with these organizations, Refrigeration Technologies helps shape the future of the HVACR industry while empowering the professionals who drive it.

A standout initiative is the “virtual swear jar” campaign, a fun and engaging fundraiser supporting Women in HVACR. Titled “Dirty Mouths, Clean Coils,” it turns the colorful language often heard in technician videos into scholarship funding for aspiring female technicians. This innovative effort showcases Refrigeration Technologies’ commitment to giving back to the community while connecting with its audience in a playful yet meaningful way.

It is set to shape the future of HVACR—ensuring that technicians have the tools they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently while protecting the planet we all share. Blending performance with a profound responsibility for both technicians and the environment, Refrigeration Technologies is laser-focused on leading the HVACR industry into a new era where progress and responsibility go hand in hand.
