Founded in 1988 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Speedy Concrete Cutting has grown steadily over the years to establish itself as one of the largest, full-service concrete cutting, coring, and selective demolition companies in the southeast. With offices in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville, the company offers a full range of concrete cutting capabilities to service its clients statewide and beyond. “We are a second generation family owned and operated business. Our company was founded on three core beliefs- ‘safety is our first priority,’ ’exceeding customer expectations,’ and ‘our people are our greatest assets,” says Todd Barna, President of Speedy Concrete Cutting. Guided by these beliefs, Speedy has positioned itself as a market leader with the capability to service even the most demanding projects.

Our company was founded on our core beliefs safety is our first priority, exceeding customer expectations, our people are our greatest assets

One of the biggest challenges of the industry is acquiring and retaining the quality, career-minded people paramount to meeting the growing customer demands. Speedy works continuously, creating an enjoyable work environment while providing employees the ability to earn a great living with opportunities for growth within their team. In fact, a majority of their management team was promoted from within their ranks. The company has also developed an industry-leading training program structured to offer someone with zero construction experience an opportunity to become a professional concrete cutting operator. “Our goal is not just creating concrete cutting operators, but building a team of problem solvers, safety advocates, and brand ambassadors who deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. Delivering an ‘exceptional customer experience’ and creating a great work environment for our employees is a key element to our success,” comments Gunther.

Driven by a mission to be recognized as an unparalleled resource within the construction industry, Speedy delivers safe, efficient concrete cutting and drilling solutions to its clients. Speedy’s success is built upon a promise to exceed its customers’ expectations, from both a safety and a performance perspective. Barna notes, “As we approach our 35 year anniversary, we are pivoting that vision to focus even more to deliver the ‘Ultimate Customer Experience.’ We are drilling down even further to determine exactly what that means to every client, understanding that it may not only be different for each company, but may also differ from project to project within companies driven by their clients’ needs and expectations."

"Our extensive experience and superior capabilities gives them the ability to meet the most unique needs of clients in a safe and efficient manner.” Gunther expands on this by explaining that one customer may require a multi-office commitment to meet a tight deadline, another may need their expertise in bridge deconstruction or infrastructure projects to develop means and methods during the bidding or schedule development phase of their project. In some instances, a client’s requirement might simply be the ability to complete the project with minimal impact to their ongoing operations or the confidence to turn over the entire operation to the Speedy team. In any of these instances, Speedy strives to meet these needs while doing so in the safest way possible.

Speedy’s capabilities were truly evident while completing the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge project. The company performed over $2.5 million in concrete cutting and core drilling a project involving the reinforcement of the segmented precast piers. Among the many challenges they had to overcome was core drilling and extracting more than 1,200 holes, 7’-15’ deep and 128 holes 62’ in depth. The company’s expert team accomplished this difficult feat while working 80’ below the bridge deck, within the piers, in a space smaller than a typical minivan.

The company further demonstrated its capabilities on yet another project completed at a major recycling plant in Doral, Florida. Their client had taken a large shredding machine offline for replacement which ceased processing operations in a large portion of its facility. The competitor they had originally hired started their work, had performance issues, told the client there were too many difficulties they couldn’t overcome, and walked off the project, leaving the customer with zero solutions. Speedy came to the rescue and provided them with several possible options to overcome the difficulties in drilling out the existing 6’ deep anchor bolts, made even worse by the failed efforts of the previous company. Within 24 hours, Speedy pulled in equipment resources from several offices, had multiple crews drilling around the clock in 8-hour shifts, and completed the project. “When our competitors say, ‘This cannot be done,’ Speedy says, ‘This is how we are going to get it done for you!” quips Gunther.
