Hiring for disaster relief requires a rapid response time. Often, Thompson deploys hundreds of personnel within the first few days following a natural disaster. One of its most vital assets is the ability to quickly implement recruiting and payroll solutions, sourcing workers for locally impacted areas and nationwide requirements. Leveraging its in-house staffing team of professional recruiters, Thompson fulfills surge staffing needs that generally require a bulk workforce on a temporary or permanent basis.
“Our ability to hire in a fast-paced and competitive environment allows us to quickly scale operations as a turnkey project delivery and program management provider,” says Corey Thomas, VP of Thompson Consulting Services.
The recruitment process generally happens onsite, where recruiters talk to potential hires face-to-face, explaining job details and finding the right fit. While this might sound simple, it is challenging, especially for temporary openings that most candidates might choose to pass up on.
Much of its initial working methodology is the same as any recruiting firm; it starts by studying a client’s needs and requirements, followed by diligent sourcing of candidates by its in-house recruitment team. However, Thompson stands apart with its existing relationships and internal database of candidates from across the country. Throughout the project, Thompson maintains a standby list of candidates as it forecasts client needs to stay one step ahead of the curve.
Hiring for its own projects allows Thompson to understand client needs better than a typical recruiting firm. Thompson typically serves as the primary contractor for debris monitoring and program management jobs, funded by different Federal, State, and Local government bodies or even private organizations. For operations where it is not the prime contractor, Thompson often aids the organization in charge of the project with its workforce solutions and can provide data and program management support for projects of any size.
Our ability to hire in a fast-paced and competitive environment allows us to quickly scale operations as a turnkey project delivery and program management provider
Following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017, Thompson was tasked by a private sector client with hiring local residents during a time of high labor demand for disaster relief operations. The requirement was to bring over a hundred workers with a background in engineering, construction, or construction inspection; train them, and put them to the task. Assigning full-time recruiters for the duration of the contract, Thompson met and exceeded client expectations and massively contributed to disaster response operations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Leveraging an in-house expert recruiting team and its experience in disaster response and debris removal monitoring, Thompson Consulting Services provides quality workforce solutions in the blink of an eye. Its ability to provide turnkey services and fulfill massive hiring requirements within days enables Thompson to be a front-runner in disaster response operations or any challenging operating environment.
